Internet Download Manager, commonly known as IDM, is a computer program designed as a file download manager. It is only available for platforms

Working principle

Because the trick the program performs is that it creates 8 requests to the server at the same time [using threads] and in each of the 8 requests it sends different addresses for the starting byte [which will be starting bytes bytes in the tables to be returned] so that each file is Covered.

For example if the file consists of 8000 bytes what will IDM do

It creates 8 requests for the same file on the server at one time but with the initial byte starting as follows ..

In request 1, starting bytes = 0. Bytes covered: 0-999

On request 2, starting with bytes = 1000. Bytes covered: 1000-1999

On request 3, starting byte = 2000. Byte covered: 2000-2999

On request 4, starting with bytes = 3000. Bytes covered: 3000-3999

On request 5, starting bytes = 4000. Bytes covered: 4000-4999

On request 6, starting with bytes = 5000. Bytes covered: 5000-5999

On request 7, starting with bytes = 6000. Covered bytes: 6000-6999

On request 8, starting bytes = 7000. Bytes covered: 7000-7999

Now the streams of bytes returned from the server to the user's machine will start to pool in the actual file. When parts of all requests are fully loaded, they are included together to create the complete original file. [1]
